Pommernglück Retreat 2026-01

Low stock

Booking will open Sunday, the 26th of Ocotber at 4 pm. Until then only members of the calling sheep community have early access.

Date: March 06th - 11th, 2026

Escape the daily grind and experience an unforgettable break on the idyllic island of Rügen! In the quiet month of March, I'm inviting 10 sheep and wool lovers to the next knitting retreat. Discover the island's beauty and enjoy a relaxing knitting holiday centered around the POMMERNGLÜCK.

This time we will dive into knitting the Ahto Cardigan together with the finnish knitwear designer Ronja Hakalehto. We'll explore the island's impressive landscape not only with THE nature guide on the Zicker Mountains, but also on a leisurely steam ride in the "Rasender Roland" (Racing Roland). And of course, a visit to Frank and Christian Westphal, the coolest shepherds around, is a must. They'll be available to answer any questions you may have and as an absolute highlight, we'll be able to watch lambs being born and, of course, cuddle them until they're done. Beside a relaxing free day, which you can use to just gather with the others and knit, enjoy the wellness area of the hotel or explore the island on your own, we will sum up this retreat with a pasta workshop in the lovely little restaurant Onda and a following dinner.

the hotel

The family-run 4-star Wellnesshotel Solthus am See has been located in the midst of the breathtaking nature of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve, right where fresh and salt water meet, for almost 25 years.

Your very own holiday oasis awaits you between Lake Sellin and Greifswald Bodden, on the beautiful Mönchgut peninsula. Situated on the shore of a natural Baltic Sea lagoon, the hotel offers a view that combines the tranquil beauty of Rügen's lakes with the vastness of the sea. A place where nature is within reach.

Look forward to a delicious breakfast, first-class regional cuisine and a spacious wellness area with swimming pool.

Meet the sheep and shepherds

The Westphal family has been farming for generations, starting in 1889 with sheep farming and breeding. Frank and Christian spent their childhood days with the black lambs of the Pomeranian sheep in the barn. For Frank, it was natural to pursue a career in agriculture, while Christian first completed an apprenticeship as a chef.

After their father's death in 2015, the brothers founded a partnership to continue their father's legacy of organic sheep farming.

Workshop with Ronja Hakalehto

Ronja Hakalehto is a finnish knitwear designer living up north, surrounded by lakes, forests and endless inspiration. Her designs have a calm, nordic feel - earthy tones, soft textures and patterns that look right at home in nature.

She designed the lovely Ahto Cardigan with POMMERNGLÜCK FEIN and together we all will cast on our very own version of it in the workshop. You can chose which quality of POMMERNGLÜCK you wanna use and the adjustments to the different yarns will be explained right in the workshop.

The workshop will be held in english. If you need translation to german, I will be there to do that.

Please choose your size with your registration:
XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Chest circumference of the finished knitted piece: 102 (111, 117, 126, 139) (149, 154, 164, 177) cm

Pasta Workshop

Damon Budd and Maria Decker are the team behind Onda in Putbus — a small, creative restaurant where local ingredients and honest cooking take center stage. Damon, originally from New Zealand, brings a playful touch to regional flavors, while Maria makes everyone feel at home with her warm, welcoming energy. Together, they’ve created a place that celebrates good food, good stories and the simple joy of sharing a meal.

After our first ride with "Rasender Roland" we will stop by Onda for a pasta workshop and a following dinner with our selfmade pasta.
